The patch is pretty easy to add to the kernel and the issue has seemed to have diminished. The issue with 19 initially was wifi and mostly with RealTek so that is what I would want you to check. With the live USB you can make sure your hardware is supported and everything works OK - it will not be quite as snappy running off the live USB as it will be running off the HD but you will be able to tell if it is running everything like it should.

You may have to go into your BIOS to make USB is 1st choice in the boot order Either way don't forget to edit DIST to Sylvia

The second method may be easier - just open the update manager and add software sources from step 2 to the Additional repositories - Again I could not get the first on to load using this method either. Then in the terminal gksudo leafpad /etc/apt/sources.list edit, save and quit

Menu>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager>search>leafpad and install leafpad (my favourite text editor) If you know the vi editor you are set - I don't like it so I do this - super easy and works when I have to edit as root.
